The 3 Benefits of Using Headlight Covers

Don’t you get really pissed off when your headlight breaks on a little post box or a trash bin? I know I do. How amazing it would be if your car’s headlights could survive a roll or something and stay intact? If you are clumsy that way and tend to frequently bump your headlights into things that “miraculously” got in your way, don’t worry, there is a solution – headlight covers.

Headlight protection has been around for quite some time now, (it was invented back in the 1990s) but it has always stayed out of the spotlight. Don’t let the simplicity of headlight covers fool you because they can save you from a lot of headaches and unnecessary expenses. There are two different types of protection that you can choose from – plastic and film cover. Film covers stick onto the headlight and plastic covers can be mounted with some screws. Without further ado, let’s get to know them better.

Headlight Covers

Safety

While the more durable plastic cover is meant to sustain impacts from stones, sticks and other sharp objects, film covers are here to protect your headlight from scratches, flying debris and bugs. Plastic headlight covers have one unique feature which film covers don’t and that’s the reinstallment of the cover. Once you peel a film cover off, you have to get a new one. However, it can protect you from haze lights better than plastic covers and it is easier to install.

Cost-Effective

One very obvious benefit of protecting your headlights with covers is the fact that you’ll save some money in the long run. You’d spend much less money replacing a headlight cover rather than an entire headlight. Plus, since covers are rather easy to install, you will save yourself a lot of time and nerves. When you hit the road, buy extra covers – just in case you need to replace the existing one with a new one.

Easy to Maintain

As for maintenance, plastic headlight covers require the bare minimum of it. You will only need to wipe the covers with a damp microfiber cloth for the best results but make sure you don’t use any harsh chemicals or soap as it can leave a bit of residue. With film covers it can be even easier if you don’t drive as much or if your route mainly involves the city streets – you will just need to wipe it clean once in a while with a dry cloth of any kind.
