Titanium Flashlight: The Most Beneficial Buying Guide

When most people hear “titanium”, they think it’s some fictional metal alloy out of the Marvel universe. No, that’s actually adamantium and it’s what Wolverine’s skeleton and claws are made of. Titanium, on the other hand, is very real.

stainless steel

Titanium (Ti) is an element with an atomic number of 22 and an atomic weight of 47.867u. It was discovered in 1790 and it was named after the Titans from ancient Greek mythology. However, its industrial production began around 1946. It has a high corrosion resistance, it is lightweight and very strong. In fact, it has the highest strength to density ratio of all the metallic elements. This is why Titanium has a wide range of applications in the Aerospace market, in medical devices, architecture, sport, and all sorts of everyday products including titanium flashlights.

The materials used to make the body of the flashlight are very important since they affect not only its weight and aesthetics, but also some other properties like heat dissipation, corrosion resistance, durability, and more. Titanium flashlights have many advantages over other types. Though titanium is heavier than aluminum, it is not as heavy as steel and it gives a certain heft to the flashlight but not as much to weigh you down as steel flashlight. Scratches are barely noticeable on titanium and it will resist compression far more than aluminum. Also, it is highly resistant to corrosion even if you use your titanium flashlight in salt water or other corrosive environments.

There are many different titanium flashlights on the market and they come in a wide range of sizes and specifications. Here is a list of my top 3 picks.
